Bizeljsko-Sremič wine-growing district (1264 ha) is one of the three wine-growing districts of the 3,784-hectare Slovenian Sava Valley Wine Region.
The Bizeljsko-Sremič district includes mountain ranges in the area from Kumšperk to Laško and Zidani Most, and along the left bank of the Sava river to the confluence of the Sotla river and the Sava river and on to Kumšperk. In the north it borders the wine-growing region of Podravje. The vineyards stretch at an altitude of between 200 and 400 meters, with a sub-Pannonian climate characterized by dry, relatively mild winters and warmer and wetter springs and autumns. Bizeljsko was written in the vineyard books because of year 1880, when a phyloxera was first observed in Globoko near Pišece, which halved the vineyards both in our country and in Europe and caused a real exodus. In recent times, however, sparkling wine producers have proved to be especially good. The first special Slovenian wine, which follows the production method of port wines, was also made in Bizeljsko. At international Wine Competitions, however, predicate wines are always very high-ranked and respected. A special feature of this area are the "Repnice", wine cellars dug into the sandy soil.
In the Bizeljsko-Sremič wine-growing district, Blaufränkisch, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and late harvest Welschriesling predominate as varietal wines.
