Colnar

Picture
The Colnar family is a traditional family, its records date back to year 1400. Over the centuries, their ancestors have been deeply connected with land and grape growing. They cultivate more than 10 ha of vineyards in four locations. Producing Cviček, which is their specialty, Modra frankinja, Rosé, Kraljevina, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc and Collis (white cuvée). In 2008 and 2014, they've been titled as "The King of Cviček" with the best rated Cviček wine, which was a special incentive for their wine cellar for further work. In 2019, at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the world's largest and most influential wine competition, they received a golden medal for Rosé wine and a bronze medal for Cviček wine. The wines are produced exclusively from grapes grown in their vineyards. The latter are exemplary processed and nurtured, as they want the grapes to be healthy at harvest. In their cellar modern technology is used in combination with knowledge acquired from abroad, constantly upgrading it. Nevertheless, they are accompanied at every step by the tradition of their ancestors. Their wines reflect the cold climate, the diverse composition of the soil and the human factor, which strongly characterizes the character of each wine, for in their vineyards, and in the work of the cellar, nothing is left to chance.
