Jarkovič Wines and Jarkovič Wine Library
Just a stone's throw from the winding river Krka lies in the Posavje (Sava Valley) village of Brod in Podbočje. Here you can find a very unique wine cellar - Jarkovič Wine Cellar with Wine Library. This is a place where wines write very special stories that you can “read” in their Wine Library. The wine library is part of the cellar, intended for the purchase and tasting of wines.
Why the name Wine Library?
Good wine, like a good book, has its own story. It begins in the spring and continues in the summer in the vineyard, culminating in the autumn in the wine cellar. At the very end, the wine whispers its sun-drenched story to the drinker, who can taste the effort and love of the winegrower and winemaker in a sip of wine. Each wine is the work of a winemaker and good wines deserve a selected audience. The Jarkovič family is committed to promoting the wine culture of their places and has been carefully writing, collecting and nurturing their wine stories for several generations.
About the Wine Cellar
On the estate, they have been engaged in viticulture and winemaking for several generations, more precisely since 1868, as it is carved on the stone wine press from the vineyard cottage in Zavode. They pay special attention to the quality of their wines, what is confirmed by awards and medals from prestigious world evaluations. They produce still, sparkling and rosé wines. They are very proud of the wines Modra frankinja (Blaufränkisch) and Modri pinot (Pinot noir) Divine and Modri pinot Antik rose, and especially recommend the Dolenjska specialty wine Cviček PTP, for which they received a silver medal and 86 points at last year's prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in London. The brand of their wines is a stone lion, the statue of which was discovered during archeological excavations on a nearby hill, the Old Castle above Podbočje, and which today adorns the square in the village of Podbočje.
