The Prus homestead from Krmačina near Metlika radiates the serenity of a pleasant pulse of life. Three generations under one roof symbolize the family’s viticultural tradition. Although their late grandfather did not have as many vineyards as they have today, he was still a member of the Drašiči vineyard cottage neighborhood. The grapes for their wines ripen in the Krmačina, Repica, Vidošiči, Kamenica vineyards and in other sunny Bela Krajina locations, where the view extends all the way to the church of Sv. Ana in Vidošiči and Sv. Lovrenc on Vivodina, which is already beyond the Slovenian border. They are constantly looking for ways and procedures to improve what has been achieved. For if there is a rule that a man learns until his death, this is certainly true of viticulture and winemaking. At Prus Farm they place great emphasis on the quality of the wine. They produce all categories of wines: from sparkling wine to still wines from regular harvests to predicates such as late harvest, auslese, beerenauslese, ice wine, trockenbeerenauslese and also their specialty, straw wine - wine from dried grapes. Prus wine cellar is known mainly for predicate wines, for which they received numerous gold medals and championship medals at wine competitions at home (Vinska vigred Metlika, wine competitions in Drašiči, Vino Slovenija Gornja Radgona, Vino Ljubljana) and international competitions abroad (Decanter World Wine Awards in UK, Vinovita Zagreb, Prešov Slovakia, Brussels Belgium). In addition to wines, they also produce honey and spirits. In 2009, a modern new wine cellar with a capacity to store 200.000 liters of wine was inaugurated. At the same time, it makes work easier and contributes to better technology in the production of excellent wines.
