The viticultural story of the Šturm family begins in 1968, when Otmar Šturm Sr. planted the first vines in the vineyard below Sveta Ana. In 1992, the reins were taken over by his son Otmar junior, who in 1999 built a modern cellar. The Sturms have been pushing the boundaries since the beginning. In addition to the rules, they planted varieties that - thanks to them - became a pillar of today's Bela Krajina viticulture. Yellow Muscat, which until recently was not even on the list of permitted varieties of the district, has become a recommended variety after their success, and fragrant Traminer is currently among the permitted. The next step is to challenge fate, i.e. weather conditions and regulations, with Cabernet Sauvignon, although they are aware that the weather conditions have not changed so much that the Bordeaux cane varieties in Bela krajina could give convincing red wines. This place belongs to the Blaufränkisch. They now cultivate eight hectares of their own and rented vineyards, but they talk about the number of vines rather than the area - they have 30.000. Fresh wines from younger vineyards come to the market with a white label, wines from older vineyards and from the best locations that mature in wood are marked by blue, and the third line consists of predicate wines with works of art on the label. As great advocates of tradition, they are no strangers to white wines with extended maceration - a black label, and a wide range of wines is rounded off by the classic Ana sparkling wine.

Blaufränkisch
It is produced exclusively from Blaufränkisch grapes. Healthy and selected grapes are destemmed, after which they are macerated for about 14 days at a temperature between 28-30 ° C. During this time, the wine also completes the alcoholic fermentation. After fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation (lactic acid deacidification) takes place. The wine matures for 6 months in steel tanks and old wooden barrels to preserve varietal characteristics reminiscent of reddish forest fruits and spicy notes of black pepper. It is dry, with plenty of lively acids, nice freshness and lower tannin content. The body is lighter, up to medium, depending on the vintage. It is great with cured meat dishes, pizza, pasta. Vintage | 2018 Sugar level | Dry Quantity | 0,75l Price | €8,00 |
Welschriesling
The grapes of the Welschriesling of the blue collection are picked perfectly healthy and in full maturity, when they are already partially attacked by noble rot. The grapes come from the marly soil from the famous location of St. Anne. It is fermented at lower temperatures to preserve varietal characteristics, after which it matures for about 6 months in steel tanks on fine, healthy lees. The wine is dry, medium-bodied, variegated and fuller-tasting, with fine ripe acids. It goes well with poultry, fish. Vintage | 2019 Sugar level | Dry Quantity | 0,75l Price | €10,90 |
SWEETER WINES
Yellow muscat
Yellow muscat for the blue collection is picked at full maturity, about two weeks after regular harvesting, to further gain on the ripe aromas and sugar level. The grapes are ripe, sweet, juicy and aromatic when harvested. Fermentation takes place at lower temperatures to maintain an intense, clean varietal bouquet, reminiscent of nutmeg, sweet spices, after a year or two begins to smell gently of mint. The wine is semi-sweet, with a residual sugar between 35 and 50 g / liter, full-bodied, round, with an oily texture and a long aftertaste. Very popular as a standalone wine among lovers of sweeter wines. Vintage | 2019 Sugar level | Semi-Sweet Quantity | 0,75l Price | €9,00 |
Riesling
The grapes for the Riesling of the blue collection are picked at full maturity when they are already partially attacked by noble rot. We have such a situation three or four times in ten years. It is at least a late harvest, but most of the time we can talk about selective harvesting. The must is fermented at lower temperatures to preserve the royal varietal characteristics, reminiscent of ripe peach, linden flower, pineapple with a slight hint of raisins, dried fruit. The fermentation stops well before the end due to the abundance of sugar, the remaining unrecovered sugar is nicely matched with high and ripe acids. The Riesling blue label is typically medium-bodied, full-bodied and complex in flavor. It goes well with desserts such as apple pie or fruit ice cream, and if you are bold enough, you will look for your pleasures in combination with goose liver pate. Vintage | 2016 Sugar level | Sweet (selection) Quantity | 0,75l Price | €14,00 |
