In Dolenjska wine-growing district the most famous wine is Cviček. Cviček PTP is a reddish wine, a cuvée wine from red and white grape varieties, which in the right proportions blend into a wonderful harmony. It is bright red in color, has a pleasant sour taste, is smooth, without pronounced bitterness and is always a dry wine. It has a low alcohol content (from 8.5 to 10 vol.% ), So it is primarily a light and drinkable wine that goes well with all non-sweet dishes. And precisely because of its drinkability, freshness and smoothness, Cviček is often the ideal wine for everyday moderate consumption. Since 2001, cviček has also been legally protected by the designation of a recognized traditional indication - PTP. It is grown in the Sava Valley Wine Region, more precisely in the Dolenjska wine-growing district. Among all the wines, Cviček is credited with many healing effects. It contains higher acidity and lower alcohol level which has proven to be its advantage. Due to the first, it is recommended for diabetics, the second classifies it as a dietary wine. At the same time, it contains flavonoid substances, antioxidants that have a positive effect on health, as they reduce cardiovascular risks. Cviček has beneficial effects on digestion, speeds up appetite, prevents insomnia and increases blood circulation. White varietal wines and cuvée wines are also produced. The autochthonous Slovenian wine variety Blaufränkisch with more tannins, flavonoid substances and antioxidants, which have beneficial effects on health, is also becoming increasingly popular. In addition to still wines, excellent rosé and sparkling wines and sweeter wines are also making their way to the wine scene.
Bela krajina wine-growing district
Bela krajina wine-growing district is bordered by Gorjanci, Kočevski rog and the river Kolpa on the border with Croatia. Climate influences are Mediterranean-continental. The great diversity of different soils affects the organoleptic characteristics of wines, so the differences between neighboring vineyards can be substantial. The climate is sub-Pannonian, and due to the Gorjanci, the development of the vine in Bela krajina is faster than in Dolenjska, as the climate is closer to that in Primorska region (martime part of Slovenia). Bela krajina drew attention to itself twice: in 1981 with the production of the first rosé wine and then in 1985 with the first ice wine in Slovenia. In Bela krajina, they were also the first to produce young Portugueser wine, with semi-carbon maceration - as in Beaujolais. The most widespread varieties are: Blaufränkisch, Welschriesling, Kraljevina, Žametovka (Koelner Blau), Yellow muscat, Sauvignon. Metliška črnina PTP is a protected wine with a recognized traditional indication and is an exceptional red variety with pronounced varietal characteristics, tradition and Bela krajina terroir. The microclimate, soil and diligence of the hands of the Bela krajina winegrowers are the guarantee of the high quality of the Metliška črnina PTP. The varied varietal composition of Blaufränkisch, Žametovka (Koelner Blau), Portugieser and St. Laurent grapes is an additional stone in the high-quality mosaic of Metliška črnina PTP. Since this is a dry wine, we recommend that you enjoy it with food. It goes very well with grilled and venison dishes. Serve chilled at 13 to 15 °C.
All wines in the entire Sava Valley Wine Region are included in the culinary offer.
